Telephone

There was a time when Sunday’s were eagerly awaited, as calls were cheaper than the weekdays.
Line was dead and waited for the line man to repair the telephone lines.
He used to call back for the conformation if the lines got repaired.
Now that’s a history.
Now no one calls on the landline.
Lying near the window, maybe in a museum.
Watching life drifting away
Hope the phone boots are still in existence.
Now taken over by the mobiles.
Life is passing away
Hard to watch your own decline
Who was once the spine of communication
Now no one will be spending a dime on that phone.

  1. Sad and so true. I remember in the late 1970s when I moved into a room in an off campus student boarding house where I found my first phone jack that didn’t require the phone company to come out, just flip a switch remotely. At the time that was amazing. Today it’s getting a phone signal in a room without nearby windows.
