Expectations often rob you from your happiness.
Human nature is difficult to change. One may not tend to stop expecting things from others but definitely can learn to manage expectations.
While managing expectations we have to understand one thing, our individual behaviour shouldn’t be changed because of the others specially when you are spreading positivity.
”I’m not in this world to live up to your expectations and you are not in the world to live up to mine.” – Bruce lee
A beautiful quote by Bruce Lee. Says everything in that quote for a happy and stress free life. Few things to ponder around to have a beautiful life.
- Why do you expect others to act exactly the way you want them to. Stop doing that. Every individual have their own thought process and are living with their own struggles. Instead of expecting, when you are open to any and to all the reactions from others, you would be less hurt, as the level of understanding with each other increases.
- Don’t wait for others to make you happy. That would be the biggest mistake in one’s life. Build your own happiness and confidence on something you have your power. Trust your own instincts and beliefs. Don’t wait for others even your family to appreciate you immediately on what you have achieved. Sometimes what you feel from inside is difficult to express and which no one can understand expect you.
- Enjoy your present. Stay in the moment as often as you can. As if you slip from your current thoughts you will be tend to flow with the feeling of expectations from others which might make you feel angry. So the bottom line is find peace with in yourself. Expecting things from others will ony disturb your peace.
When you let go of things and allow yourself to be happy in every situation as your happiness is not dominated by the will of others, life will become easy to handle as you have the control on your life and not others.

Often when we put our feelings of happiness or the need for happiness and such on the expectations of others, it can leave us disappointed. Can relationships with others bring us happiness? – absolutely they can!
Only when we are at peace with ourselves, can we be at peace with those around us.

You’re welcome. We need to keep working on being at peace with who we are, instead of trying to get others to create “that peace” for us.

I agree with almost everything, but it’s never easy to have no expectation especially if we are with the people we love and trust.

Expectation are really a killer, either way. It restricts energy flow and it is just ugly. Never leads to happiness.
Well written post. Great advice.

Very true! We need to let ourselves get freed from this prison of expectation and live in the moment! Extract happiness out of what we have and we can achieve on our own instead of waiting for anyone else to do it for us!!

Set the standard! Stop expecting others to show you love, acceptance, commitment, & respect when you don’t even show that to yourself.”

True words of Reality, Tanvir and expectations pull us down. A perfect quote by Bruce Lee and why go by the way they want us. Never expect anything from anyone. Live your life on your terms and then we surely can walk with anything we want. Lovely post, Tanvir.

Wise words. Expectations can lead to so many disappointments and frustrations that can spoil a relationship or an evening out or a holiday . Expectations for things like the big family holidays such as Christmas are can often result in the holiday being a complete disaster when those expectations are not met. Good post!

Excellent writings. I like to say “stop expecting the expectations of you!” That is exactly where we fail as a human race bc someone may feel one way or react one way then they expect everyone in the world to act or feel the same way. Thank you for your post
