The Elephant Rope!!

As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephant could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason they did not.

He saw the trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. ” Well”, the trainer said when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe they cannot break free.

The man was amazed. These animals could break free at anytime from their bonds but because they believed they couldn’t they were stuck tight away where they were.

Like elephants , how many of us go through life hanging onto belief that we cannot do something simply because we failed at it once before. Failure is the part of learning we should never give up the struggle in life.

Your attempt may fail, but never fail to make an attempt.

At times many of the people may set back with their outdated beliefs or some have the fear to try something new or to make efforts in different manner because of limiting belief. Worse part we haven’t made efforts to make an attempt because of someone’s else’s limiting beliefs.

Whatever you can conceive and believe, you can achieve ! Hence choose not to accept the false boundaries and limitation what happened in the past.

What happened in past no one knows better than you, since you have faced the problems, so when you get the opportunity to rise again you need to move and survive as in the end its your fight of survival and the decision ball is in your court..

We fail not because we have destined to fail, but because we need to learn the lessons as we move on with the life..

  1. Beautifully written! I love this! In the story, the elephant is such a huge, strong and powerful animal, yet he does not know his strength. He has been conditioned to be submissive and oppressed. What a pity! He may from one master pass on to another master.Or he may, as you say, break the shackles and set himself free if he gathers a wee bit of will power. Thanks for sharing. Happy Thursday!
